The Alberta North Zone is an informally defined region encompassing most of the geographic area north of Edmonton. The approximately 386,0000 residents live in communities such as Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie (the main centers of the North Zone), as well as smaller communities like Whitecourt, Athabasca, Hinton, Edson, Mayerthorpe, Westlock, Cold Lake, Peace River, High Level, and High Prairie.

The primary industries in northern Alberta are forestry, oil, and gas.

There are 10 Primary Care Networks in the Alberta North Zone.

Position Summary

The North Zone PCNs Business & Financial Analyst is a key support role for the North Zone business unit and 10 Primary Care Networks.  This position is not an entry-level role, as it will support the business reporting requirements and key deliverables for primary care as set by Alberta Health.  The analyst will coordinate, develop, and submit progress and outcome reports (monthly, quarterly, mid-year, annual, and ad hoc), working collaboratively with all key stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an experienced individual with solid financial skills and business acumen.

Remote preferably in Edmonton or the North Zone, as travel may be required.

What you will do...

Key Responsibility 1: Performance Reporting

  • Support the Zone and PCNs in their obligations for performance and financial reports with the responsibility to prepare these technical reports by summarizing information and trends
  • Create, monitor and maintain data collection tools to facilitate reporting for timely access and delivery of reports
  • Create informative, actionable, and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Provides guidance and support to evaluation and monitoring activities
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships and networks to support the Zone and Primary Care Networks by working collaboratively with all stakeholders, including Alberta Health and others

Key Responsibility 2: Business Analysis

  • Remain current on the latest, relevant trends and practices to support business optimization and systems
  • Supports primary care initiatives with identifying, gathering, validating and managing business requirements
  • Researches and analyzes system utilization; and provides recommendations to enhance established processes and procedures
  • Deliver written and verbal presentations to North Zone leadership to communicate key findings and updates on business process adjustments
  • Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes
  • Create documentation and adhere to records management standards
  • Support the implementation of new business and reporting processes

Key Responsibility 3: General Business Support

 

  • Support the Zone and PCNs in their obligations for a well-functioning business by reviewing policies and procedures and updating as required
  • Researching and conducting environmental scans and keeping current on the relevant trends, business practices and regulatory/compliance requirements

Create, monitor and maintain documentation and processes for effective business functions.

  • Fluency in English language (written and verbal)
  • Strong oral, written and analytical skills; self-directed and accountable with a high level of perceptiveness
  • Solid financial skills and business acumen
  • Facilitation, problem-solving, decision making and conflict-management skills
  • Results-driven and process-oriented
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to balance competing priorities
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and changes in the primary care landscape
  • Professionalism, diplomacy, and tact in dealing effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Evidence of principle-based decision making
  • Ability to evaluate new research and implement it into practice
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours
  • Use of a vehicle for business use may occasionally be required
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle for work-related travel is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration
  • 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in a business analyst role
  • Strong financial background
  • Experience in the process and cycle of performance reporting
  • Experience working in primary care or community health preferred
